Join us Thursday May 27 from 12- 1 p.m. where Dr. Dan Siegel will deliver an exciting approach to raising children will be explored through engaging discussions, case examples, and experiential immersions. Child development professionals, parents, grandparents, teachers, and others who help children grow will find this learning experience filled with scientifically based ideas and practical skills that can promote well-being in children’s lives. By offering a definition of an important aspect of the mind and a core mechanism of mental health, the whole-brain child approach offers care providers the cutting edge art and science of child development.
About the Presenter
Dr. Dan Siegel is the Executive Director of the Mindsight Institute, an educational organization—based on his concept of Mindsight—offering online learning and in-person workshops that explore how the mind, embodied brain, and relationships shape our development and provide applications for enhancing mental health and well-being.
Dr. Siegel’s unique ability to make complicated scientific concepts accessible and exciting has led to numerous speaking engagements addressing diverse local, national and international groups including mental health professionals, neuroscientists, corporate leaders, educators, parents, public administrators, healthcare providers, policy-makers, mediators, judges, and clergy. He has lectured for the King of Thailand, Pope John Paul II, His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Google University, and London’s Royal Society of Arts. He was the first scientist to present in Myanmar on the topics of child development, parenting, education, and mental health.
As an internationally renowned neuropsychiatrist and author, Dr. Siegel’s books have been translated into over forty languages and have sold over 2 million copies worldwide. He has published extensively for the professional audience, has authored numerous articles, chapters, and internationally acclaimed textbooks, and serves as the Founding Editor for the Norton Professional Series on Interpersonal Neurobiology, which contains over 75 textbooks and is on of the bestselling professional series in the field of mental health.
About the Families Connected Speaker Series
Established in 2016, The Families Connected Speaker Series is provided in partnership with Beach Cities Health District, South Bay Families Connected, Manhattan Beach Unified School District, Redondo Beach Unified School District and Hermosa Beach City School District. The series is offered free of charge to parents and youth throughout our South Bay community.
